Am I Too Ambitious?

Can you be TOO ambitious? Is it a bad thing? Should I slow down? Maybe I need to start thinking realistically?

These are questions I think about a lot. I want to talk about ambition, dreams and fulfilments in life with this blog - when do you need to slow down or when do you need to start working towards things? To be honest, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer - it's a personal thing, but I want to dive into it.

By definition "ambition" is "a strong desire and determination to achieve success, power, wealth, or a specific goal". I would class myself as an ambitious person. I want to achieve things in my life; I don't want things to happen for me, I want to be in control of my wants, goals and achievements (not in a control-freak or cocky way, but in an ambitious way). Because, I personally don't want to leave this earth without having achieved things that I want. On the caveat to this, I am fully aware many dreams and goals are impossible to get to due to many reasons; that could be financial, your class, where you live, health conditions or even just as simple as unluckiness. However, there are certain realistic goals I'd like to achieve, this including getting my degree, being a speech and language therapist, perhaps having a family, to run a marathon, have a herd of guinea pigs or just being able to just be happy. I am confident, being the ambitious person that I am, that I will achieve all these and more. But there are perhaps certain unrealistic goals I also have that unfortunately probably won't happen - going on a world cruise, making this blogging site monetize and having an even bigger team (much harder than you think!), buying my own theatre, get my own musical on the west-end, be on the west-end, be in a hugely successful band, being able to touch Lando Norris... lol! But is it a bad thing to have unrealistic goals? Yes and no, I think.

Yes, it could be considered a bad thing to have because it could be dangerous in some ways, if it was to get out of hand. You can't live your whole life aiming for these and when they don't happen getting deeply upset, because, it is extremely likely I won't get anywhere near these things happening. You can't aim for these all your life or manifest too much and live a lie, because you won't get anywhere with your smaller, achievable goals.

But, no, it isn't a bad thing to be too ambitious with unrealistic goals because we all like to have hope. I think that's what it all comes down to in many ways and walks of life. Hope. That maybe one day it will happen, just having it in the back of your head, just in case you get lucky! If you're ambitious and striving to get to a certain destination it will be more likely to happen than if you sit down and do nothing about it.

I know I do a lot. I do this, which I love, I do theatre and so much more, but I always seem to want more. Not because I am ungrateful, but because I am ambitious. And I am even ambitious in writing this blog to perfection.
