Disney Pin Collecting

Gabrielle Hammond
Hey everyone. It's Gabs again and today I shall be discussing something very different to my usual types of blogs. Today is going to be all about Disney Pin collecting.
Now I know what some may be saying. Disney adults! But, what's the harm? Obviously I don't mean these Disney adults that are OBSESSED or sabotage a child for their own joy, but ones that enjoy collecting Disney items and visiting parks are the ones that I don't think cause any harm. And they are the category I fall under. And what does it matter? If someone enjoys something why not?
Anyways small rant over and I am sorry if you did not think that, lol!
Disney Pin collecting has been around for decades, apparently starting in 1999 as an official Disney 'thing'. Disney pins are basically normal Pin badges but with Disney themed characters or attractions designs. But they are highly collectible and very aimed at the older audience of Disney lovers to collect and trade.
It is a very expensive hobby/collection but also an investment as pins can go up from the original purchase price loads in years down the line.
Disney pins are such a lovely collection to start with in the world of Disney as you can pick and choose your own personal "collection". That may not make sense but let me explain...
You physically can't collect every single Pin that comes out from Disney as you would have to have it as a 24/7 job and have a bank balance of over a billion pounds...
But, instead many collectors choose a category of pins they collect. For me, I mainly collect Alice in Wonderland pins, the Duck mystery collections and "clusters". As well as any that catch my eye. Some people they collect all Stitch pins they can find or all mystery Pin sets. Whatever it is, its up to you and at your own discretion.
Now to the question of where do I find/buy them? Well, they are available on the DisneyStore website with more being available in the physical DisneyStore in London or around the UK such as Selfridges. Or, if you're in the Disney parks themselves they are everywhere and this is where you trade.
How do you trade? Mainly in the parks there are cast members with Pin boards or lanyard that are willing to trade or even other visitors/collectors. But also in America and sometimes in the UK, Pin trading events are organised and you have all these people in one place trading. You also can trade through Facebook groups etc. Or, you don't have to trade at all and just collect for yourself!
Whatever you decide to do, have fun with it! Disney pins are amazing.
