Drag Race UK Series 8- Episode 3 Debrief

Welcome back to my mini-series of blogs for Drag Race Uk Series 8. We are back with the 3rd episode, and this week is Snatch Game, but before we get into it, make sure to read my previous blog and watch the episode beforehand, as there will be spoilers. Also, there may be some swearing throughout the blog.

So, we are back in the werk room after Ma Danni's elimination. Not too much is said, but a keep point is that Naya thought that Taquila should have gone home instead of Danni. However, I don’t agree, and I think that Danni was much weaker compared to Taquila.

WEEK 3

MAXI CHALLENGE - SNATCH GAME

So, this week is snatch game and it would be interesting as there are 10 queens. This feels like the edit would be important as there are less queens and it would be harder to see a clear winner / loser.

I will make a quick list on who each queen will be

Alik - Rupert Everett

Anita Piss - Bill Skarsgård

Coral Hole Mandi - Jane Turner, Gina Riley

Flesh - Charlotte Tilbury

KY Kelly - Jane McDonald

Mocha - Guy Fawkes

Naya Thorn - Gretel

Paris Baby - Eve

Taquila Thirst - Helena Bonham-Carter

The Delta Quadrant - Mary Todd Lincoln

Group 1

Alki, Flesh, KY, Taquila, Delta

My first impression is that Alik and Taquila could be in bottom as the jokes aren't landing, KY and Flesh are top as they have the characters down well. I can't say much about Delta, but they are making Ru laugh so it seems safe. After the questions I think Flesh, Ky and Delta are safe, whilst Alik and Taquila are in the bottom. Nothing too big happened but Ky started talking to the other queens and expanded the answers. This could be an attempt to push them into the top, but I have a feeling that Flesh may call them out as it made the other queens performance look worse.

Group 2

Anita, Coral, Mocha, Naya, Paris.

To begin with, I think Coral and Naya are top and could win, while Mocha feels like a top but safe, and Paris and Anita feel safe with the first impressions. After the questions, I think that Coral is top and may even win. Mocha is top safe and Anita, Naya and Paris are safe over all.

DAY 2

Flesh is calling out Delta for interrupting her during the chat with Ru before snatch game, Flesh apologised for snapping but then Naya calls Delta out for being fake and says that what Delta says to someone's face isn't what they say behind someone's back.

Paris then says that Mocha threw her off during snatch game by saying she's failing, but then Mocha brought up that Paris does this to other people outside snatch game. Paris was then quiet after this.

Lastly (and the biggest drama) Taquila says that she thought she was quite good. But Ky said she was better than expected, but is in the bottom two. KY then says, "you have a habit of speaking shit really" and corrects her and says that she was shocked and that Taquila did better than she thought but came in at the worst place in the group. KY then points out that she said it to Taquila rather than behind her back. Paris then makes a fair point and says that they have treated Taquila as the rankings have been. KY then ends it by saying that she won’t let Taquila put the way that she feels onto everyone else.

I don't really know what to say and because of that, we are going to move onto the runways.

RUNWAYS

First is KY, I don't hate it, but I feel that it is very panto with the overall shape and look of it. I think that it is good, as it is showing a different shape of outfit.

Next is Delta, for the first time. I don’t hate their outfit, it’s giving pickle. It's good to see a different thing, and this may be the best thing that they have worn, however it’s not my top look.

Then we see Flesh. At first with the makeup, I saw Lill from UK S6. It looks a bit like a marshmallow, but definitely high fashion.

Forth is Taquila and I don’t hate the look, but it feels very safe and not as good as the previous queens. I think that it is simple overall.

We are halfway and Mocha enters. I am living for the fish, and I think that it would be a top look. I think that it is very on brand for them as well.

Sixth is Paris. It's good to see them fully clothed and I think that this is high drag. It's simple and effective.

Then we see Coral and I’m living. It looks very Japanese inspired and I love this, it may be my favourite look. It's chaotic enough but is also put together.

Next is Anita. It's giving queen and I think that this is one of my favourite looks. It's drag and is better than some of the other looks on the runway.

Ninth is Alik. I love this and I think that it is very 60's. I think that the overall look works well and compliments each thing. It's also nice to not see them in a ponytail.

Last is Naya and I think that it is simple to KY'S however, Naya is more elevated. I think that this is also one of my top looks.

UNTUCKED

The tops of the week are being discussed, and Paris walks off but then Naya follows. We find out that Paris feels misunderstood. I am warming up to Paris, and I think that I would like to see them be in the top 4. The front that they put on is breaking.

FINAL PLACEMENTS

Winner - Coral Hole Mandi

Top safe - The Delta Quadrant, Naya Thorn

Safe - Ky Kelly, Flesh, Anita Piss, Mocha

Bottom safe - Paris Baby

Bottom - Alik, Taquila Thirst

LIPSYNC

So, we are seeing Alik and Taquila lip sync to "The Look of Love " by ABC. I think that this song was fitting as it’s good for the outfits they are in, it also doesn't require any big movement that could be affected by the outfit. Taquila went home and I think that this was the right choice, as they were in the bottom twice before. In my meet the queens blog, I said they would place 10th to 6th. I was accurate as they are in 10th place.

And with that, we are done. Next week is the rusical and I’m excited. So, I hope to see you in my next blog.
