It’s Hard Out There For A Lily Allen

Hello fellow bloggies; it’s been a while!! Today's blog is all about the icon, the legend, the diva, Lily Allen! Hope you like my pun of a title (if you know you know)!
Lily Allen is my favourite female artist and has been for a few years. It all started back when I was a child; mother used to play her songs on her iPod and I would sing along. Delving deeper as I got older, I started to listen to more of her lesser known songs and by the time I was an early teenager she had quickly become my go to artist! Sadly not many people of my age had heard of her when I was in high school and when I would mention Lily people quickly would answer with “who”; obviously I replied shocked saying “the artist who sings Smile and F**k You!”
Back in early 2025 I was able to impersonate her in a local “Stars In Your Eyes” competition where I sung “LDN” and then somehow managed to get through to the finales and sung “Somewhere Only We Know”. Shockingly I placed second! I thoroughly enjoyed portraying the icon herself and most importantly finding one of her necklaces (flamingo) when she created her own fashion line back in the day!
If someone was to ask me who would be my dream concert to watch it was always “Lily Allen” for people still alive and of course “Elvis” for people who have sadly passed away. Annoyingly I thought I would never have the chance to see her live as she decided to put her children in front of her career and stopped creating her incredibly written music. Until she announced her album
“West End Girl” which was later released in 2025. I was so excited and it very quickly became my favourite album. So not all hope was lost for us fellow fans; even if she didn’t tour I was grateful she had created an outstanding album explaining her side to her marriage breakdown. But alas she announced her tours in little theatres; sadly her tickets were sold within seconds and I unfortunately was without any luck. I thought all hope was lost until she announced her arena tour at the “O2”- somehow I managed to get tickets!!! And honestly it was the best portrayal/show I have ever seen. How she basically did a one woman show, showing receipts about how the horrid Harbour was in the wrong was utterly magnificent!
Now people are all allowed their own opinions when it comes to things, that’s what makes us human. I obviously believe Lily Allen was treated poorly during her relationship and was manipulated into having an open relationship. Obviously take all the media’s coverage with a pinch of salt but please look into Lily’s Podcast if you want more insight!
In her whole career Lily Allen has always been seen as “unlikeable” and “toxic” in the media, just for being herself. Yes she was a rich girl but how can she deny it 🤣 (if ykyk); you can’t criticise someone for wanting to act in a more down to earth way to attract a wider audience! There are plenty of other horrible articles written about her but I’ll be here for days writing about them and it’s supposed to be bitesized haha!
That’s all I have time for today; hope you enjoyed my blog! 'Til next time xxxx
