Fields of Glory

Lay me down upon the grass,

Let me look up at the sky.

Smell the flowers all around me,

Above the trees my senses fly.

I see the rolling fields,

The sun rises from the east.

A glow lights all before me,

Its warmth will never cease.

I feel the earth between my toes,

The sunlight on my face.

Smiling with the bird song,

What a truly perfect place.

Am I stood in fields of glory?

Has heaven entered here?

As I feel a strength untold,

With nothing left to fear.

The day it holds adventure,

So I’ll gather all I need.

I’ll take the strength you gave me,

And in this life I will succeed.

And when the sun sets in the west,

I will be thankful for the day.

I know the night will cool my heart,

So allow me tomorrow is all I pray.

Lay me down upon the grass,

Let me look up at the sky.

Smell the flowers all around me,

And I have no questions why.
