The Alien

I was alone in the beginning in the darkness you call space,

I saw your distant planet and it looked the perfect place.

I viewed it from a distance as it shone so bright and blue,

I decided I would visit... for I had nothing else to do.

I flew across your oceans as your sun set on the land,

I stepped down from my spaceship onto something you call sand.

I stayed for just a moment for your night was drawing near,

And I marvelled at the sky as I saw your stars appear.

I went to many Islands each one different from the last,

I wondered how your tiny planet could seem so truly vast?

I was calmed by all the beauty, amazed by all I saw,

Even though I had to leave, I knew I'd be back for sure!

...

I should have stayed alone, up in the darkness you call space,

But I was eager to return and see my perfect place.

Still so amazing from a distance though humanity had excelled,

It's like you weren't content and all the beauty you've expelled.

I flew back across your oceans as the sun slipped out of view,

I aimed high for the mountains just in case you'd hurt them too.

I saw smoke rise in the distance, the air was turning black,

Humans wielding weapons and didn't care who they attacked!

Your children looked so fearful, this world it seems so lost,

If only I'd have been here, I would have helped at any cost.

I would wish to bring you peace, if I could only see a way,

Alas the ones that lead you have led this world astray.

...

Forgive me for I must go now, though you'll never know I'd been,

I hate that I have to leave you, I despair in what I've seen.

Together you are strong, stop the fighting, do not wait!

You must see this world is everyone's, Now before it is to late....
