The Ledge

Saturday night, what a time

Who could’ve guessed it would go this way

You made me feel there’s no mountain I couldn’t climb

Until I realised, you’d be the one to push me anyway

You told me you loved me, told me you needed me

Then one day it all changed

As soon as he came back, there was no guarantee

On and on and on you made me feel wanted, made me feel loved

Told me how important I was

But now I’m standing on the ledge I helped you down from

I asked my mum, I asked my friends

They tried to tell me but I wouldn’t hear them

Cause how could you say all that, was it really just pretend?

Maybe they’re right, maybe I’m wrong

But I still love you even now you’re gone

So what does that say about me, that I love you anyway

You told me you loved me, told me you needed me

Then one day it all changed

As soon as he came back, there was no guarantee

On and on and on you made me feel wanted, made me feel loved

Told me how important I was

But now I’m standing on the ledge I helped you down from

Time after time you made me feel small

Made me feel like I was nothing at all

Built me up just to break me down

And after all this you gave him the crown

And I’m here, picking myself up

You told me you loved me, told me you needed me

Then one day it all changed

As soon as he came back, there was no guarantee

On and on and on you made me feel wanted, made me feel loved

Told me how important I was

Now I’m off on my own, helping myself off the ledge without you
