Hey guys, welcome back to another instalment of Travel Tuesday. This weeks travel is a little bit of a review of my recent staycation!
I have recently returned from a scenic cottage break away to the lovely Dorset (Corfe Mullen near Poole) to celebrate my mother's 50th birthday. To quickly sum it up in one word: beautiful but to have a more detailed sum up... read on (you know you want to).
Location:
Picturesque location; we were surrounded by fields and geese in the river that ran around the cosy cottage. Just outside Poole meant that it was away from the hustle and bustle of the city (although caveat to that on a main road) but close enough to enjoy the attractions. The main road did mean that it was noisy but that doesn't bother me as such, but something to bare in mind.

Cleanliness:
The cottage was rustic and dated back (in some parts) to the Romans so while not unclean, it had some wear and tear that you would expect in a building so old. It was as clean as it could be with bedding (the most important to me) being beautifully clean and comfy.
Facilities:
The facilities on site were incredible; you couldn't ask for more! There was a whole games room and cinema room with a pool table, basketball game, full size air hockey table and dart board. Hours of fun could be had in that room alone but no, there's more! Outside, there were acres of field with bikes, swings and activities such as archery and swing ball. In addition to this, loads of canoes and kayaks to go in the river with. It was so fun and had something for everyone. In the lounge room, there were lots of DVD's and card games as well as carpet bowels. You could be there weeks and not get bored.

Food:
As it was obviously a self catering cottage we explored both home cooked meals and takeaways/meals out. We had a Tesco food delivery the day we got there which was convenient for us after a long travel day. But the first night we had a beautiful Chinese takeaway (my fav!). We also had fish and chips takeaway and ate out at a Harvester nearby too. All flawlessly delicious. We also had a BBQ on a gloriously hot day which was yummy and other home cooked meals included jacket potatoes (can't beat that), full English fry up and cottage pie. Yum.
Things to do around the area:
Around the area of Corfe Mullen provides ample to do. We went to the peaceful National Trust's Brownsea Island to try and spot some red squirrels after an unsuccessful attempt last time I was there but alas, I must be bad luck in the squirrel world as I was unlucky again. Still, it provides a different kind of day however can add up price wise. £14.50 for an adult on the boat to the island and then £12 for an adult to get into the island. I also went to the Tank Museum, not far away, which is Dorset's largest indoor attraction. It was a very interesting day and had lots to do. This was £19.50 to get in for adults (if booked in advance) but is definitely worth the money. There is also Poole harbour and Poole park which is beautiful as well as Bournemouth sea front not far away. Paulton's Park and Peppa Pig World is also not far aswell. Lots to do- 5 stars from me.

Overall, I would definitely recommend our location and cottage accommodation. I've linked it below (don't worry not an ad lol). Thank you for reading! I appreciate you all. Bye for now.
