Who is JC Aqueen?

I am JC Aqueen. I am a drag queen based in Ipswich. Drag for myself is a way to express my feminine side without the boundaries of gender or society. It allows me to be creative, confident and explore forms of self- expression while also becoming alternative versions of myself. My style focuses on transform. I aim to create the illusion of a woman with an exaggerated figure.

How did I get the name "JC AQUEEN"?

We can't just think about the current name can we? My first ever drag name was Mimi Fox. This was created using the method on the first street I grew up on (this got fox) and I liked Mimi so I just took it. I then kept with Mimi and then changed my last name to Royal and then lastly Aphrodite. This is where the JC began as there was an American queen with the same name (Mimi) and a worse reputation. So, I decided to make the change. However at this time, it was Jacy. I was then bored of Aphrodite. So I went to a classic drag group on Facebook and it made me realise that Jacy sounded like they see. The suggestion played on Jacy a man but I felt this was over played so I settled for Aqueen. Lastly people kept saying "Jackie" rather then Jacy. So I dropped the A and Y and this left me with JC Aqueen.

How did I get into drag?

My drag journey began with two friends saying I should do drag. Thankfully season 11 to 13 of the American drag race was on Netflix so I could see what I was getting my self into. This then opened my eyes and I realised... I wanted to try this. So I then went to Superdrug and got the essentials. It's safe to say that I looked BUSTED but that is what time fixes. So this is all I'm going to give you to keep it short and sweet but I will give a bigger explanation in a later blog, if Gabs lets me...

What is my biggest drag failure?

The one I always think of is when I was doing my EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) and I had to do a performance. So let me set the scene... I was halfway through my preformance and I was lip syncing Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan and it was the bridge. I did a turn and bam... my knee locked and I was straight to the floor. All I'm going to say is that I was in a dress and I'm thankful I was wearing black underwear. Definitely not my finest moment and I don't think that it helped that my audience was full of teachers!

What is my most expensive purchase?

As we all know- drag is expensive. So let's talk about the most expensive item that I have brought. It's not a wig or and outfit but I do use them every time I get in drag. These are my hip pads. However using girl / gay math. A £150 purchase is now worth around £10. So that makes me feel ALOT better.

So that is all for now however this is not the last you will be hearing from me as I will be covering the newest season on DRAG RACE UK.
