Elias sat up at this point swung his legs around and hopped off the couch.

Dr Carter stepped back, well aware that she had yet to bring him out of the hypnotic trance.

"Steady, Elias, take your time."

"Oh, Dr Carter, you really have no idea, do you?" Elias chuckled and walked to the chair at the edge of the desk where his coat was draped across the back and his shoes were placed neatly underneath. He calmly donned both and turned back to the stunned doctor.

"Thank you for your patience over the last 6 months, your help has been both necessary and very helpful but now I must be on my way. I have much to do and there is little time."

"I have no idea what you are talking about, Elias, but you cannot leave whilst still in the state of hypnosis, I must insist you return to the couch so I can bring you back safely". Inwardly, she was trembling, in all her years as a hypnotist she had never witnessed such a calm and, seemingly complete, return from an hypnotic trance with no intervention from the hypnotist.

"Please, Dr Carter, without wishing to place any slur on your competence, I have never once succumbed to your therapy - nothing that you have witnessed over the past months has been what you assumed and now, I have a very serious job to do. So, I bid you adieu."

Elias opened the surgery door and left, leaving Dr Carter with her mouth open and her hands shaking.

Once clear of the building Elias pulled a mobile from his pocket, called Lucas the Potato and told him he quit then jumped on a number 12 bus towards Dulwich.

Sat in a seedy, greasy spoon opposite the Plough Inn he waited, he was early but that was fine, it gave him time to prepare.

The girl behnd the counter shouted over to him that they were closing in 10 minutes, he nodded but didn't move.

Just a few minutes later the cafe door opened and in walked Ares, looking a lot more respectable than their last meeting, he gave Elias a half-smile and gestured towards the door, "Shall we walk?" A command rather than a question. Elias complied, he was his controller after all.

"So, Elias, your training is complete and you have excelled. Head Office are very pleased with you and they are ready to assign your first mission."

Elias nodded, it was the moment he had been waiting for, trained for and, more importantly, accepted the enhancement chip in his brain for that allowed him to transverse parallel universes.

"Whatever you need, Ares, I am ready."

"Good, because you will need all of the augmented skills we have bestowed upon you, this mission is crucial to our Realm's security."

Elias nodded and accepted the envelope.
