The Kingdom Eternal

Part Two by Alex

Elias found himself in a bright white room, although there was nowhere logical for the light to be coming from. Looking around he could see a door to his right and a chair to his left. The room was bare other than this and Elias wondered again why it was so incredibly bright as he couldn't see any light fixtures or fittings, and no windows anywhere. Before he had a chance to move the door swung open and in walked a magnificent peacock. "What on earth?" Elias exclaimed very loudly. The peacock did not flinch and carried on walking around the room. Elias stepped forward and made for the door. The peacock seemed completely unfazed by his presence and just kept going round the room in circles. Just as Elias was about to go through the door, a teeny tiny person darted past him, and started chasing the peacock. This person was so small, the peacock stood very tall over him and seemed as though it were mocking him somehow, even though all it was doing was going round and round. The person chasing the peacock was so fast Elias couldn't make out any features on their face, but he could hear a faint high pitched sound, as though the person was speaking.

Elias turned again to leave the room when he was knocked off his feet by a giant bat! The bat joined the circling already happening in the room and Elias just laid on the floor, completely stunned by what he was seeing. "What is going on!?" He yelled, but again, the creatures completely ignored him. 'This was not what I was expecting to see today, or ever in fact' Elias thought to himself. "Where am I please?" He shouted again, more desperately this time. Still no answer.

There was a sudden screeching sound so loud it was deafening to Elias. The ceiling was opening, unfolding from the centre and rising up to the sides, like someone opening a lid on a box.

Elias could not believe his eyes! Looking down at him from the ceiling was the very large head of a hooded cloaked figure, and he was sure, although the face was still obscured, that this was Jaxx! He recognised the hood from before, he could see the lamplight behind him, he smelt the street and the ale coming from the Red Dragon.

Just as Elias thought to shout up to Jaxx, the room went pitch black. He was suddenly back in his bed, in his normal life again. But he felt completely exhausted, as though he hadn't slept a wink for the past two nights. 'Perhaps I haven't?' He thought to himself.
